As soon as Miss 12 finished the school year, she dove into a new project. She now spends hours with a globe every day, playing Seterra, a geography fact game. Her self-imposed goal is to get 100% on every single Seterra challenge, from flags of the world to countries of the world to capital cities of Africa and provinces of China. And she has come a long way.

So have we all. Occasionally Miss 9 is lured away from her schoolwork and ends up running back and forth from our huge wall map to Miss 12’s computer, helping to find answers. The rest of us can’t resist sitting down once in a while to see if we can match scores. And that is how we all continue to learn about the world.

So, what is Seterra? Honestly, it is the best geography fact resource I’ve ever come across. It’s an addicting computer game, a very efficient teacher, and completely free. In fact, this is the one resource (besides the Bible, of course) that I think every homeschooling family should have. I cannot say enough good about Seterra…which is why I’m writing about it here a second time.

Disclosure: Seterra, developed by Marianne Wartoft from Sweden, is freeware that we have enjoyed for years.

Annie Kate and her husband are the parents of five busy blessings, ages 15-25. Though inspired by classical and Charlotte Mason education, they have discovered that the best learning involves real life: music, cooking, dairy farming, nature walks, bee keeping, reading, judo, blogging, website development, writing, gardening, photography, learning retail, working with horses, and more. Annie Kate's goal is to inspire and equip her children to love the Lord their God with all their heart, soul, and mind, and to love their neighbors as themselves.
